PMS, Painful Breasts & Mood Swings. What Can I Do? | Ask Indigomoon Series


Recently during the full moon I received this question:

“Every full moon I become very, very… well… sensitive, and on the point of a super low. I’ve read you mention a few times the part of being extra sweet and kind to yourself during these days but somehow I manage to go the wrong way every time. What can I do?”

‘A’ also shared that she is not on hormonal birth control and the full moon coincides with her moon-time, her bleeding phase. And she experiences constant hunger, pain in the breasts and mood swings for over a week prior. And a feeling of no longer ‘being me’. She finished with saying: I love being a woman. I do. But oh how I wish I didn’t have these moon cycle swings.

In the dark hour, I always come back to tending to my feminine body. That is my pilgrimage place of returning home. Home to my Inner Woman. Home to that which is timeless. Home to the knowing that I am already home, already whole. 

While currently being in the throws of many (exciting) changes in my life, I’ve been feeling the dark hour wrapping around me in the moments when I’ve felt overwhelmed or vulnerable while digesting all that is happening.

In those moments I find my way back home by leaning into my feminine body. A hand on my belly while closing my eyes, a deepened breath fully experienced, lying down on my yoga mat for a moment or awakening my senses, reminds me I am held here.

As you may know, I’ve been tinkering away at this website for quite a while (with amazing help from my husband!). It’s been a slow, deliberate and intention-filled labor of love, discomfort and determination.

There were many voices trying to make it go faster at times, including my own – but I knew I had to provide the sacred time needed to inhabit the parts of my Inner Woman that was holding the vision for my work.
